Biliary Tract Cancer (BTC)
Understanding Biliary Tract Cancer
Biliary tract cancer (BTC) refers to malignancies that occur in the bile ducts, gallbladder, and other parts of the biliary system. The most common types include cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer) and gallbladder cancer. BTC is often diagnosed at an advanced stage, making treatment particularly challenging. Risk factors for BTC include chronic liver disease, bile duct inflammation, certain genetic conditions, and exposure to chemicals.
Common Signs and Symptoms of Biliary Tract Cancer:
- Jaundice: Yellowing of the skin and eyes due to bile buildup.
