Frequently Asked Questions
What does a Patient Care Navigator do?
From your very first call, your Patient Care Navigator (PCN) is right there with you. They’re your guide, walking you through the referral process, answering your questions, and making sure nothing slips through the cracks. Behind the scenes, our team confirms the clinical and insurance details while your PCN gathers your paperwork and keeps everyone in the loop. You won’t have to chase anything down. And once you’re cleared and scheduled, they’re still here for you.
How long does an infusion appointment take?
It depends on your medication. Infusions usually run from about 30 minutes to 5 hours. Injections take just a few minutes, followed by about 30 minutes of monitoring. Your care team gives you a time estimate so you can plan your day.
What should I bring and wear?
Bring a photo ID and your insurance card. Wear short sleeves or sleeves that roll up easily, and dress in comfy layers, since treatment rooms can run cool. A cozy blanket, headphones, and a snack are all welcome too.
Can I bring someone with me?
We want you to feel comfortable, and many of our clinics have private suites. Ask your Patient Care Navigator about bringing a companion when you schedule, especially for your first visit. [CONFIRM POLICY: guests per patient, any age limits.]
Can I drive myself home afterward?
Often, yes. But some medications, including pre-meds like Benadryl, can make you drowsy. For your first visit it’s a good idea to have someone drive you, and your care team will tell you what to expect for your treatment. [CONFIRM any Vivo-specific guidance.]
How soon can I start treatment?
After your doctor sends your referral, we verify your insurance and get any prior authorization your plan needs. That approval step can take a few days to a couple of weeks depending on your insurer, and we keep you posted the whole way. Once you’re approved, we schedule you at a time that works.
Can I eat during my infusion?
Usually, yes. We provide snacks and drinks, and you’re welcome to bring your own. If your specific treatment needs you to fast or avoid certain foods, your care team will let you know ahead of time.
