Plan Your Visit

Welcome to Your Infusion Therapy Home

Your Vivo visit has four simple steps: your doctor sends a referral, we verify your insurance and handle any prior authorization, you come in for your infusion, and we help you book your next visit on the way out.

Starting or switching your infusion care is simpler than you might think. The short video below walks you through the whole journey, from your doctor’s referral to your first visit.

Step 1: Your Referral

  • Your doctor sends a referral. They submit the referral form with your clinical notes and details.
  • We check your insurance. Your Patient Care Navigator confirms your coverage and benefits.
  • We handle prior authorizations. If your plan needs approval first, we take care of it directly with your insurer.
  • We schedule you. Once you’re approved, your Navigator calls to set up a time that works for you.

Step 2: Getting Ready for Your Visit

  • Drink water the day before and the day of your infusion. It makes placing your IV easier.
  • Dress comfortably. Wear short sleeves or sleeves that roll up easily, and feel free to bring a cozy blanket from home.
  • Snacks and drinks. We provide a variety, but you’re welcome to bring your favorites.
  • Stay connected. Free WiFi is available. Bring headphones for music or shows.

Step 3: During Your Treatment

  • Check-in and vitals. Your nurse checks your vital signs to make sure everything looks good.
  • IV or injection. Your nurse starts your IV or gives your injection. Pre-medications and labs are handled through your IV if needed. Ask for a numbing spray before IV insertion if you’d like one.
  • Close monitoring. Your nurse keeps an eye on you throughout to keep you safe and comfortable.
  • How long it takes. Depending on the medication, an infusion runs from about 30 minutes to 5 hours. Injections take just a few minutes, followed by about 30 minutes of monitoring.
  • Get comfortable. Settle into a reclining chair, enjoy a snack, watch a show, read, catch up on email, or take a nap.

Step 4: After Your Infusion

  • Final vitals and IV removal. Your nurse takes one last set of vitals and removes your IV.
  • Keep gentle pressure on the dressing for a moment to limit bruising at the site.
  • Back to your day. Many people return to normal activities right away. Some medications can make you drowsy, so check with your care team.
  • Book your next visit. We offer on-site scheduling so you stay on track.
  • Ongoing support. Our team is here for any questions later on.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a Patient Care Navigator do?

From your very first call, your Patient Care Navigator (PCN) is right there with you. They’re your guide, walking you through the referral process, answering your questions, and making sure nothing slips through the cracks. Behind the scenes, our team confirms the clinical and insurance details while your PCN gathers your paperwork and keeps everyone in the loop. You won’t have to chase anything down. And once you’re cleared and scheduled, they’re still here for you.

How long does an infusion appointment take?

It depends on your medication. Infusions usually run from about 30 minutes to 5 hours. Injections take just a few minutes, followed by about 30 minutes of monitoring. Your care team gives you a time estimate so you can plan your day.

What should I bring and wear?

Bring a photo ID and your insurance card. Wear short sleeves or sleeves that roll up easily, and dress in comfy layers, since treatment rooms can run cool. A cozy blanket, headphones, and a snack are all welcome too.

Can I bring someone with me?

We want you to feel comfortable, and many of our clinics have private suites. Ask your Patient Care Navigator about bringing a companion when you schedule, especially for your first visit. [CONFIRM POLICY: guests per patient, any age limits.]

Can I drive myself home afterward?

Often, yes. But some medications, including pre-meds like Benadryl, can make you drowsy. For your first visit it’s a good idea to have someone drive you, and your care team will tell you what to expect for your treatment. [CONFIRM any Vivo-specific guidance.]

How soon can I start treatment?

After your doctor sends your referral, we verify your insurance and get any prior authorization your plan needs. That approval step can take a few days to a couple of weeks depending on your insurer, and we keep you posted the whole way. Once you’re approved, we schedule you at a time that works.

Can I eat during my infusion?

Usually, yes. We provide snacks and drinks, and you’re welcome to bring your own. If your specific treatment needs you to fast or avoid certain foods, your care team will let you know ahead of time.
