OPEN ENROLLMENT QUESTIONS

It’s the yearly period when most insurance companies let you change or update your coverage.

Outside of it, you generally can’t switch plans unless you have a qualifying life event such as a move, a marriage, or a loss of other coverage.

Infusion treatments are usually billed differently than office visits or prescriptions. Two plans with similar premiums can leave you with very different out-of-pocket costs for the same therapy, depending on the deductible, coinsurance, site-of-care rules, and whether your infusion center is in-network.

We can walk through how a plan you’re considering would apply to the treatment you receive.

Most infusion therapies fall under Part B rather than Part D, so how a plan handles Part B drugs matters more than the drug list alone. Medicare Advantage plans may also require prior authorization or steer you to a specific site of care. Bring us the plans you’re weighing and we’ll help you compare what they mean for your treatment.

We’re in-network with all major payers and accept commercial insurance, Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and Medicaid. Accepted plans vary by state and by location, so check the state listings on our Insurance page or call us to confirm.

Contact us as soon as your new card arrives — ideally before your next scheduled infusion. We’ll reverify your benefits, restart prior authorization if the new plan requires it, and tell you what to expect for cost.

You may still qualify for a special enrollment period if you’ve had a qualifying life event. Medicare Advantage members also have a separate window from January 1 through March 31 to drop or change plans. Call us and we’ll help you figure out what’s still open to you.
