Chief Executive Officer
Stephan brings over 25 years of healthcare experience working in homecare, insurance, consulting, and employee benefits to his role as Vivo Infusion® Chief Executive Officer.
Stephan’s previous service as CEO includes AccentCare, a national homecare, hospice and personal services company with revenues over $1.6 billion, for over 11 years growing it from a $400 million provider operating in seven states to today’s footprint. Before this assignment Stephan worked for UnitedHealth Group for over 12 years in numerous senior leadership positions. Most recently he was the Founder and CEO of OptumHealth Collaborative Care now known as OptumCare.
Other key leadership positions at UnitedHealth Group include Executive Vice President Product and Innovation in the Commercial Market Segment of UnitedHealthcare where he was responsible for product strategy and development, UHGs group retiree business and UHGs international business. He was also the Chief Marketing Officer of UHCs National Account business, Senior Vice President of actuarial, underwriting, and customer analytics, and Chief Operating Officer of UnitedHealth Networks – the organization that is responsible for it’s health care networks and contracting.
Stephan has worked in numerous other segments of the health care industry, including benefit consulting, provider practice management, and other managed care companies in executive management and marketing roles. Past experience includes working on the performance assessment committee of NCQA in the development of HEDIS, disease management advisory councils with pharmaceutical firms, and advisory groups at JCAHO.
He started his healthcare career in the US Army as a medic, and worked his way through college as an orderly, caregiver, and nurse assistant working in hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and homes.
Stephan holds a B.A. in Biochemistry from the University of California.
