Understanding Migraines
Migraines are a neurological disorder characterized by severe, recurrent headaches that can significantly disrupt daily life. These headaches are often accompanied by sensory disturbances and a range of other symptoms, and they can last anywhere from a few hours to several days.
Migraines can present in several forms, including:
- Migraine with Aura: Characterized by visual or sensory disturbances (such as flashing lights or tingling) that occur before the headache phase.
- Migraine without Aura: The headache occurs without any preceding warning signs.
- Chronic Migraine: Defined by experiencing migraines 15 or more days per month.
- Hemiplegic Migraine: A rare form that mimics stroke symptoms, causing temporary weakness on one side of the body.
