Understanding Aralast® NP
Aralast® NP is a medication used to treat alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (AATD), a genetic disorder that can lead to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and emphysema due to low levels of alpha-1 antitrypsin (AAT)—a protein that protects the lungs from damage.
How Aralast® NP Works:
- Replaces missing AAT, helping protect the lungs from further damage
- Slows the progression of lung disease in patients with AATD
- Reduces lung inflammation, lowering the risk of COPD-related complications
FDA Approval:
- Aralast® NP: Approved in 2002
