Lumvoa™
Understanding Lumvoa™
Lumvoa™ (veligrotug-vvze) is a prescription medicine indicated for the treatment of thyroid eye disease (TED), regardless of thyroid eye disease activity or duration. It is an insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor (IGF-1R) inhibitor administered by intravenous infusion. Although its mechanism of action in patients with thyroid eye disease has not been fully characterized, veligrotug-vvze is a humanized IgG1 monoclonal antibody that binds to IGF-1R and inhibits IGF-1R signaling by blocking ligand-induced receptor autophosphorylation.
How Lumvoa™ Works:
- Insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor (IGF-1R) inhibition: Lumvoa™ contains veligrotug-vvze, a humanized IgG1 monoclonal antibody that binds to the insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor (IGF-1R). Veligrotug-vvze inhibits IGF-1R signaling by blocking ligand-induced receptor autophosphorylation. Although its mechanism of action in patients with thyroid eye disease has not been fully characterized, inhibition of IGF-1R signaling is the known pharmacologic activity of veligrotug-vvze.
- Intravenous administration: Lumvoa™ is administered by intravenous infusion for the treatment of thyroid eye disease (TED), regardless of thyroid eye disease activity or duration.
FDA Approval:
2026 – Lumvoa™ (veligrotug-vvze) received its initial U.S. approval on June 26, 2026, for the treatment of thyroid eye disease (TED), regardless of thyroid eye disease activity or duration. Lumvoa™ is an insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor (IGF-1R) inhibitor administered by intravenous infusion.
